Let's make our community a better place!
The Friends of Rosin Creek is a community organization dedicated to the protection, restoration, and enjoyment of Rosin Creek. Taking care of our environment makes for a stronger community.
Just a half mile upstream of the Chestertown Bridge (Maryland Route 213) is the mouth of Rosin Creek, a small tributary of the Chester that provides water access, kayaking and canoeing areas, and wildlife habitat.
Rosin Creek is the primary water access for the Chester Harbor development in Queen Anne's County, Maryland. The Chester Harbor Property Association maintains several access points to the creek, including Fairview Park. The creek is a great place for fishing, kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, and more. Low tides can be tricky, however, for sail and power boats.
Like most areas of the Upper Chesapeake Bay, Rosin Creek is subject to pollution from runoff, sedimentation, and eutrophication (photo shows algae bloom in August 2019). Several sites along the creek are monitored for pollution. In recent years, the creek has had large algal blooms during the summer months.

Are you passionate about what we're doing? Let us know! We are always looking for volunteers to help us make our vision a reality. We are planning a series of stream and watershed cleanup events for the fall of 2022. We're also recruiting people to adopt streets and stream sections in the Rosin Creek watershed.
Whether you help through monetary donations, volunteering your time, or spreading our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you. We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you.
