Chester Riverkeeper is a part of the Shore Rivers organization, protecting and restoring Eastern Shore waterways through science-based advocacy, restoration, and education.
The Chester Harbor Property Owners Association owns and manages several access points for Rosin Creek. The association represents the owners in the Chester Harbor community along the creek.
Part of Washington College, the Center for Environment and Society manages research vessels on the Chester River, a watershed observatory, an archaeology and GIS laboratory, and a River and Field Campus in Kent County. The Center also manages the Chester River Field Research Station at the Chino Farm near the headwaters of Rosin Creek.
Sponsored by the National Park Service and the Chesapeake Conservancy, the Paddle the Chester website describes recreational access sites along the Chester River and its tributaries. Includes an interactive map and features about the Chester River Water Trail.
In addition to operating the Schooner Sultana based in Chestertown, the Sultana Education Foundation (SEF) helps more than 10,000 students experience the Chesapeake Bay and learn what they can do to restore North America’s largest estuary. SEF’s school programs complement existing classroom curricula and help participating schools fulfill their Environmental Literacy program requirements.
Recently renovated Chestertown Marina provides public access to the Chester River for boaters. The completely refurbished Marina features a brand-new marina office with handicap accessible bathrooms and showers plus laundry facilities for visiting boaters, floating and fixed docks with state-of-the-art utility pedestals, wood bulkheads and boardwalks, a gas dock, and underground utilities.
